How to clean your electric bike?

How to clean your electric bike?

It's vital for every rider to learn how to properly clean their bike. Incorrect cleaning operations may lead to reduced performance or even failure of bicycles, especially electric bicycles.

When cleaning an e-bike, special care is needed to protect the bike's electronic components from water damage. The following steps can help you clean your e-bike the right way:

What should I do before cleaning my e-bike?

• It is important to turn off the power and remove the battery and display before cleaning your e-bike. To avoid damaging electrical components, cover terminals with a clean, dry cloth or film.
• Prepare cleaning tools, such as professional cleaners, rags, brushes, etc.

How is cleaning done?

• Wipe the main unit clean with a soft damp cloth. Dirt that is difficult to remove can be scrubbed with a brush and then cleaned with a soft damp cloth.
! Do not use alcohol, gasoline, acetone or other corrosive/volatile solvents to clean your e-bike. These substances may damage the appearance and internal structure of the e-bike.
! Do not soak bike or clean with steam cleaner, pressure washer or hose.

• Use a clean, dry rag to dry the car body, especially electronic components and gaps, to avoid water stains that may cause corrosion.
• After cleaning and drying, check whether all parts of the vehicle are normal, especially whether the electrical connections are firm and there is no water stain left.
• After completion, you can turn on the electric vehicle and take a simple test ride to confirm that everything is functioning properly. If it works fine, then you can enjoy your new ride with a clean bike.

NOTE: Always avoid moisture entering the electronic components of your electric vehicle during the cleaning process to avoid damage. If you are not sure about your operation, it is recommended to consult a professional or go to a professional store for cleaning and maintenance.

How often should you clean your e-bike?

If you are a light user who uses your bike gently on clean streets or roads, we recommend cleaning your bike monthly. But if you regularly ride your bike on dirty, muddy or gravel roads, then you should clean it more frequently. If mud stains remain on your bike for a long time, they will be difficult to remove and may even lead to reduced performance. Therefore, when the bike becomes muddy, it is necessary to clean it in time.
